Anne Altman is a respected global business leader having worked for IBM for over three decades addressing complex business challenges within the government and commercial industries. Notably, she re-established IBM as a major force in the U.S. Federal market. She also led the company’s mainframe business, System z, through one of the most significant product launches in the history of the industry. Ms. Altman is known for her business success having managed global P&L’s and large business units.She is widely recognized for the development, growth and mentoring of leaders both within IBM and the business community.
Ms. Altman retired from IBM as General Manager, IBM U.S Federal and Government Industries.In that role, Ms. Altman was responsible for IBM’s multi-billion business with Federal Government Clients and related industries in the United States. Prior to that role she served as General Manager for IBM’s Public Sector with global responsibilities for government, healthcare, life sciences, and education. In this capacity, she also led IBM’s Smarter Cities initiative, helping organizations, states and countries focus on transforming infrastructure, citizen based services, healthcare and education all directed at improving economic vitality.
Ms. Altman joined IBM in 1981 as a systems engineer.She distinguished herself as a technology strategist who leveraged the intersections of technologies and services to meet the unique needs of government and private sector clients resulting in improved services to citizens and increased efficiencies and effectiveness of client missions.
Ms. Altman is a recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award, one of the highest honors issued to technology partners serving the Federal market.In 2014, she was selected by the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards, “Executive of the Year”, for her outstanding contributions to the information technology industry and its clients.Additionally, she has been recognizedwith a number of prestigious awards including:Federal Computer Week’s Top Federal 100, Washingtonian Magazine Top Tech Titans, Washington’s 100 Most Powerful Women,the AFFIRM Leadership Award for Industry, and the CIO Council’s Azimuth Award for the Industry Executive of the Year, the Lifetime Achievement Heroines award from the March of Dimes and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association,the 2013 IES and BD Lifetime Achievement Award and theGeorge Mason University School of BusinessAlumna of the Year.
In 2017, Ms. Altman co-founded Everyone Matters, Ventures, an organization focused on citizen based services, healthcare, education and the advancement of individuals and social causes.
Ms. Altman also serves as an independent director on the boards of SPXFLOW, Charlotte, NC;Maximus Inc., Reston VA;and Techflow Inc., San Diego, CA.Across these boards, she serves as a member of Audit, Compensation, Nominating and Governance, and Information Technology committees.She also serves on the Board of the National Symphony Orchestra, the Dean’s Council of George Mason University, School of Business, and the Advisory Boards of Atlas Research and Information International Associates.She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).She is active with the innovation community as a board member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and is a regular contributor to publications and media outlets including the television show, Government Matters.IBM selected Ms. Altman as a member of the corporate Performance Team, Growth and Transformation Team and a founding Advisor to the Industry Academy. Ms. Altman holds a BS in Marketing from George Mason University.
