25 Years of SGT

SGT History Makers | Paul Rimbey

Paul Rimbey

When Paul Rimbey first joined Siemens Government Technologies in 2002, it was meant to be a short assignment.

Brought in as a contractor to build a database to track newly deployed airport security assets, the project was expected to last just two weeks. Instead, the solution he developed proved scalable and adaptable enough to support a growing national effort and that brief assignment ultimately turned into a career spanning more than two decades. His initial role as a Web Developer and Database Architect focused on creating systems to track critical security equipment across airports nationwide. That early work laid the groundwork for a long career helping the organization grow and adapt as its mission evolved.

What first drew Paul to SGT was the opportunity to contribute to something larger than himself. In the years following 9/11, supporting efforts that strengthened national security carried a deep sense of purpose. That mission-driven focus is what has kept him at SGT ever since. Today, Paul serves as Head of IT, where he leads the company's "Operate" strategy an effort focused on improving processes, strengthening data maturity, and applying technology to drive efficiency across the organization. His team also plays a critical role in advancing cybersecurity and compliance practices that protect both SGT and the sensitive information entrusted to it by government customers. The goal is simple but vital: build a more resilient organization capable of delivering trusted outcomes for mission-critical programs.

"From the beginning, it felt like the work mattered in a way that was bigger than any one person," he reflects. "That sense of purpose has stayed with me."

During Paul's 23 years with the company, he has seen SGT expand dramatically in both scope and capability. What once centered largely on maintenance services has grown into a broad portfolio that brings together technologies spanning infrastructure, energy, digital solutions, and industrial innovation. The company's continued evolution, and its push to operate as a unified technology partner for federal customers, has been one of the most exciting changes to witness. For Paul, however, the most meaningful part of the journey has been the people. Mentors, leaders, peers, and teammates across the organization have all shaped his experience, offering guidance, trust, and opportunities to grow. Learning has come from every level of the organization, and those relationships have helped define both his career and the culture that keeps him motivated.

As SGT looks toward the future, Paul is energized by the possibilities created by emerging technologies and a more unified "One Tech Company" approach. Advances in areas like artificial intelligence offer new opportunities to support government missions in innovative ways, while maintaining the security, trust, and reliability that customers depend on. For the next generation of employees who will carry that mission forward, Paul offers simple but powerful advice: stay curious. Ask questions, understand the "why" behind every challenge, and always look for ways to improve. Curiosity paired with action, he believes, is one of the most important drivers of innovation and growth.

After more than two decades with the organization, being recognized as a "History Maker" is especially meaningful to Paul. Not because of the years alone, but because it reflects the impact of the work and the people who made the journey possible. "Over that time, I've had the chance to keep learning, work with great people, and take on challenges that were incredibly rewarding," he says. "It's something I'm truly proud of."
