What stood out to him from the start was the opportunity to make a meaningful impact early on. Even as an intern, Sam saw an environment where he could contribute, add value, and continue developing his skills.
That opportunity has continued to grow. Today, Sam works in supply chain management (SCM), where he focuses on developing usable metrics and refining processes that help SGT operate more efficiently. His work supports all pillars of SGT's GTO strategy, with a direct connection to the Operate pillar. By helping improve visibility and strengthen supply chain processes, Sam contributes to the team's ability to serve customers effectively.
One of the standout moments in Sam's SGT experience came at ILS 2026. The event gave him an opportunity to meet colleagues face-to-face and build relationships with people he would not typically interact with in his day-to-day work. For someone who has built much of his career in a collaborative environment, those connections reinforced the importance of the people behind the work.
"I've been given a wide range of opportunities that have accelerated my growth professionally."
"The biggest influence on my experience at SGT so far has been the SCM team," Sam says. "Their openness, support, and willingness to share knowledge have shaped my understanding of the organization and helped me get up to speed quickly."
That culture of support has played an important role in Sam's professional development. He says his coworkers have consistently been willing to make time to walk through processes, answer questions, and help him succeed. Those interactions have allowed him to develop both personally and professionally while gaining a broader understanding of the organization. Developing metrics in Power BI, supporting a variety of projects, and learning directly from experienced teammates have helped him build new skills in an environment that encourages development.
Sam has also gained a deeper appreciation for the solutions SGT delivers. Seeing the creativity, innovation, and problem-solving behind those solutions has given him a different perspective on the organization's mission.
"I knew we did meaningful work, but getting an inside look at the creativity, innovation, and problem-solving behind our solutions has been incredible," he says. "It's exciting to see how the team comes together to build impactful results, and it's made me even more proud to be part of what we do here."
For Sam, his SGT journey is still in its early stages, but the experience has already given him a strong foundation for continued growth. From starting as an intern to taking on increasingly meaningful responsibilities in supply chain management, his story reflects the opportunities available to employees who are given the chance to contribute, learn, and grow.
