SGT History Makers | Jason Crane

Jason Crane

When Jason Crane began his career with Unigraphics Solutions in 1998, the path ahead would eventually lead him through decades of evolution within Siemens and into a leadership role supporting some of the most critical government missions.

After years supporting aerospace and defense customers within the Siemens Software organization, he joined Siemens Government Technologies in 2017 as Digital Industries Services Director at a time when the company was just beginning a significant expansion into federal markets.

That transition marked a pivotal moment. With deep experience in the aerospace and defense sector, Jason saw an opportunity to apply his background in a new way, helping bridge Siemens' digital capabilities with the evolving needs of government customers. "I saw it as an opportunity to leverage my experience in support of our great people and drive growth in the market I care deeply about," he says.

Since then, his impact has been closely tied to the growth and transformation of SGT's Digital Industries Services organization. One of the most defining moments came in 2019, when the team made a strategic decision to restructure into program offices aligned to key customers. That shift helped strengthen relationships, deepen trust, and position SGT as a true partner in mission delivery. "Our success is a direct result of having the right people in the right positions," he explains. "When we align around the customer and their mission, that's when we see the greatest impact."

At the core of his work is a belief that supporting government missions requires more than simply responding to requests, it requires ownership. By embedding within the mission and thinking strategically about solutions, his team helps drive outcomes that extend beyond immediate needs. "We don't just do what the customer asks on a given day. We become a part of the mission itself — and that's when we can make the biggest difference."

Throughout his time at SGT, one theme has remained constant: the power of people. From learning the complexities of government cost accounting to navigating new leadership responsibilities, Jason credits his growth to the collaborative, supportive culture that defines Team SGT. "I came to look at Team SGT as a village," he says. "Everyone wears many hats, and no one is left to figure things out alone. Help is always there, you just have to ask."

"The opportunities for our team to grow and follow their passions have never been greater," he says. "What started as a small team has become a true integration leader with tremendous room to grow."

That culture has been instrumental in enabling the rapid growth of the Digital Industries Services team. What began as a group of roughly 20 people has expanded to more than 100 in less than a decade, requiring continuous reinvention of operating models, leadership structures, and processes along the way. Today, SGT stands not only as a high-performing organization, but as a destination for long-term career growth. "There are now people who have started their careers here and reached major milestones," he notes. "That's something I'm incredibly proud of."

Looking ahead, Jason is energized by the role SGT continues to play in advancing Siemens' "One Tech Company" vision. By bringing together software, hardware, engineering, and emerging technologies like AI, SGT is uniquely positioned to deliver integrated solutions that few others can match. "The opportunities for our team to grow and follow their passions have never been greater," he says. "What started as a small team has become a true integration leader with tremendous room to grow."

For the next generation of SGT employees, his advice is rooted in both responsibility and opportunity. The work is meaningful, the mission is real, and the impact is significant. "SGT's mission is our customer's mission… and that has real national consequence," he says. "Wear that responsibility proudly, take on the challenge, and know there are countless ways to make a meaningful impact while building your career."
