The US Military requires energy for everything from office lights, to computers to hi tech military installations.
Literally thousands of buildings and bases around the world with significant needs…and significant costs.
In fact the Department of Defense spent $4.0 billion in energy costs on its facilities alone in fiscal year 2010.
The newly announced Siemens-Boeing alliance is intended to change this…and more.

- It’s a vision that allows for energy independence. It allows for energy efficiency. It allows for predictable lower cost energy and it allows our military to worry about the mission they have at hand, which is protecting our national security while they have reliable secure energy.

- And the challenge they face today is at times they’re dependent on the local utilities, which work, but at certain times in today and in the future there might be the need to island or to to cut themselves off from the grid for security reasons, either physical security reasons or virtual security reasons and between Siemens and Boeing we have an offer that will help them do that. We talk about that as a micro-grid.
